Generally the process should take about 4 weeks until you are able to submit your application to the immigration office. However if it takes longer you may need to arrange to extend your Objeto Determinado Visa for another month, or pay the fine for the additional days.
Altiplano Bolivia Services for Expats specialises in helping people with this process and will take away the stress and hassle for you.
Note that once you have your Residents Visa you will need to apply for a Carnet. The application fee for this is 450Bs (Approx. USD65.00).
After 1 year you can apply for a 2-Year Residents Visa, and after 3 years your indefinite residency.
